He is also a certified construction safety officer certified at the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Mr. Anastas’ adult life as a paramedic, construction safety officer, and safety and compliance consultant has been dedicated to Safety and Occupational Health and Safety.
Mr. Anastas graduated from EMR school with honours and has a graduate certificate from the School of Health Sciences and Community Social Justice from the Justice Institute of British Columbia. He graduated from CSO school with honours from the British Columbia School of Technology.
Mr. Anastas is also a certified mediator. He completed the Alternative Dispute Resolution Program (Mediation and Negotiations) at the University of British Columbia. This program represents the top School in North America for Professional Mediation and Negotiation Training in North America. Mr. Anastas’ own conflict resolution skills accurately reflect the excellence of the program.
Mr. Anastas is also a philanthropist. He gives generously of his time to Street Saviours Outreach Society as a Medical Team Leader in Vancouver, British Columbia.
His work on behalf of refugees around the world has been acknowledged by the Canadian House of Commons (Hansard, Member Statements, December 4th, 2004.) In 2004, he was shortlisted for the position of International Urgent Action Coordinator in Amnesty International from amongst 50,000 applicants worldwide. However, he recused the position in favour of completing his graduate degree.
